The Views & Needs of 14-19 Year Olds on Qualifications, Skills, Training & Work Issues
- Date: February 2004 - February 2005
- Client: Learning & Skills Council Hampshire & Isle of Wight; Connexions South Central
In partnership with Hampshire & Portsmouth Learning Partnership and South Central Connexions, Learning & Skills Council Hampshire & Isle of Wight commissioned Papworth Research & Consultancy to investigate the views and needs of 14-19 year olds with regard to qualifications, skills, training (including Apprenticeships) and work. The outcomes informed Learning & Skills Council Hampshire & Isle of Wight's Local Area Review process.
For the first stage of the research, we designed and managed a telephone survey of 3,000 young people, and produced a report on the findings. For the second stage, we undertook in-depth focus groups with young people in the NEET (not in employment, education or training) category, focusing specifically on issues around information, advice & guidance.
